We are delighted to share that Claire McCauley’s debut novel, The Wedding Hitch, is among six books contending for the Romantic Novelists Association’s Joan Hessayon Award.
The Joan Hessayon Award is the RNA’s award for authors who have previously completed the RNA’s New Writers’ Scheme and have subsequently been published. The Wedding Hitch published with Joffe Books in April 2024 and Claire’s second novel, Once in a Lifetime, publishes later this month.
Claire says, "I’m delighted to be a contender for this year’s Joan Hessayon Award, and I’m so grateful to the RNA and their fantastic New Writer’s Scheme. I pitched the idea that became The Wedding Hitch the first time I met Tanera, and very much appreciate her and Laura’s enthusiasm for it ever since!"
We first read Claire’s The Wedding Hitch several years’ ago now, with its original title of If You’re Not the One. I challenge you not to fall for Roisin, the protagonist, while she navigates having won the wedding of her dreams... without a fiancé at the ready.
The winner of the award will be announced at this year’s Romantic Novelists Association conference, held at Royal Holloway on Saturday10th August. We’ve got our fingers tightly crossed for Claire and The Wedding Hitch!
